Undergraduate Online Learners
For international applicants who:
- Wish to complete courses or a degree ENTIRELY via online learning
- Will not be entering the U.S. for any of their course work
IMPORTANT: International students who enroll entirely in online learning are not eligible to obtain (or retain) a student visa (I-20 eligibility). For clarification, visit Center for Global Engagement.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Due to the variety of educational systems throughout the world, applications are reviewed individually by Indiana State University. Consideration is given to academic potential, English language proficiency, and other evidence that the applicant has the potential for success in university studies.
REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS
Submit all application materials to the Office of Admissions. Applicants normally receive a response within three weeks of all application materials, including:
- Completed application
- Application fee: $25.00 (U.S.) non-refundable
- Official transcripts
- Official TOEFL, IELTS, or ELS scores (unless exempt)

Application for admission
- Complete and submit the online application.
- Fill out the application form completely.
- Use your name as it appears on your passport.
- It is vital to use the same name on all correspondence to Indiana State. Write clearly, and underline the family name under which all items are filed.
- If you do not have a U.S. social security number, leave this item blank, and the University will assign you a University identification number.
- Write your address as you would on an envelope to be mailed to yourself.
- Include your street and number (or post office box), city/US IP code, province/state/zone, postal code, and country.

Application fee: $25.00 (U.S.)
The application fee is payable by Visa, MasterCard, or check or international money order made payable to Indiana State University. Submit the application fee to the Office of Admissions, Indiana State University. Please note the application fee is non-refundable.
- Official transcripts and credential evaluation
- APPLICANTS who have earned 24 (or more) transferable hours must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Typically, no other academic transcripts are required.
- APPLICANTS who have earned fewer than 24 transferable hours must submit official (or school certified) transcripts of ALL academic records (secondary and post-secondary).

United States of AmericaNOTE: Transferable hours are restricted to courses in which the applicant earned a grade of C or higher, and courses at the 100-level (and above) from an accredited college or university outside the United States or regionally accredited colleges or universities within the United States. Credits from nationally accredited colleges or universities within the United States will not transfer.

Demonstration of English Proficiency
Students must meet the English proficiency requirement by submitting official test scores or documentation of successful program completion from one of the following. For exceptions, see English proficiency exemptions.
Applicants who are not exempt must submit official scores that satisfy the following requirements to the Office of Admissions, Indiana State University. All scores should be reported from testing services directly to Indiana State University, institution code 1322.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Business majors: A minimum iBT score of 80; a minimum CBT score of 213; or a minimum paper-based test score of 5501
All other majors: A minimum iBT score of 61; a minimum CBT score of 173; or a minimum paper-based score of 5001 - International English Language Testing System (IELTS): minimum score of 6.0 (or higher)
- ELS Language Training Program: successful completion of level 112 (or higher)
- Intensive Language Training: successful completion of an intensive language training program. Indiana State University offers this training through the Interlink Language Center.
NOTE: 1Applicants whose TOEFL scores are more than two years old will need to retake the TOEFL test—and submit new scores. For details (or to schedule a TOEFL test), visit www.ets.org
