Anniversary of Civil Rights Act 1964: Black History Month Gala Concert

The School of Music annual spring concert will be led by Roby George, Associate Professor of Music and Director of Bands. This year's theme is Civil Rights, marking the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Voting Rights Act of 1965. Several pieces honoring Civil Rights leaders include "Daybreak of Freedom," by Joseph Schwantner, which is dedicated to Martin Luther King and includes excerpts of his most powerful speeches.
