OLLI Public Defenders Are Not "Real Lawyers" and Other Legal Myths

Contrary to public opinion, Public Defenders are real lawyers. In fact, the training and experience required for the public defender position is more stringent than the requirements to practice private criminal defense. The majority of criminal cases filed in Vigo County are appointed to the Vigo County Public Defender's Office so the attorneys have to be familiar with the criminal procedure. This session will focus on the criminal defense perspective and the myths we encounter along the way to trial.
