Description
Political events emerging in Ukraine, from public demonstrations in the Maidan reminiscent of the Orange Revolution to the dramatic annexation of Crimea by Russia, have been stunning in their rapidity and far-reaching in their geopolitical implications. The situation is currently extremely fluid and carries a threat of significant political violence. This may truly be a tectonic shift in international relations between Russia and Europe, and by extension between Russia and the United States.
The International Studies Program will sponsor a panel discussion, featuring three members of ISU’s International Studies Affiliated Faculty who have expertise in this geographic area and will speak from distinct disciplinary perspectives.
Panelists are:
- Barbara Skinner ~ Department of History
- Lynn Maurer ~ Department of Political Science, and Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies
- Richard Lotspeich ~ Department of Economics
This event, sponsored by International Studies, Department of History and Cunningham Memorial Library, is free and open to the public. We encourage your students to attend the discussion. The events unfolding in Ukraine could have significant impact on their future.
