Students will learn hand-building skills and techniques: pinch pot, coil, and slab. The pottery wheel will also be available to use for throwing a pot, bowl, or cup. A trinket box with lid, clay mask, clay whistle, a castle, "piggy" bank, and a bobble-head are just some of the projects children will be completing. Students will return after work has been bisque fired to glaze and finish clay pieces. There will be other finishing options to try, too! Returning students are welcome and will be challenged to build upon skills previously learned.
Note to Ceramics Students: Students will be underglazing their work before final firing. Clay must be completely dry before glazing and firing. All ceramics students are invited to come to class on Monday, July 27, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. At this time ceramics work will be dry and ready for glazing. After the glazing session, the work will be fired and then ready to take home.
