Aviation Management (BS)

Description

The University offers a bachelor of science (BS) in Aviation Management.

The program includes a core of basic aviation courses—plus coursework in aviation management. In addition, students must complete one ISU minor.

Flight training is not required. However, to gain a better understanding of the aviation industry, students are encouraged to obtain a Federal Aviation Administration Private Pilot Certificate and pass the Federal Aviation Administration Remote Pilot Certificate examination.

The University's Aviation Technology Department is internationally recognized for the excellence of its facilities, faculty, and graduates.

  • Relatively small class sizes enable students to work one-on-one with highly talented and dedicated faculty members who are professional leaders in the aviation industry.
  • The program offers many opportunities to learn about the aviation management field through experiential learning. These include things such as internships/co-ops, flying drones, visits from guest speakers, and on-site classroom experiences.

A number of activities and organizations are available that enable students to interact with other students and professionals, including Alpha Eta Rho, the American Association of Airport Executives, Women in Aviation International, and many more.

Other opportunities include the University's Honors Program and study abroad opportunities—which range from summer programs to a single semester or a full academic year in over 56 countries.
