Jasper Community Arts to host 26th Annual Juried Exhibition and awards

Jasper Community Arts announced the 26th ANNUAL JURIED ART EXHIBITION in the Krempp Gallery at the Jasper Arts Center.


The show runs from September 4-27, 2019. 

The exhibit includes a wide variety of media and techniques: watercolor, oil, acrylic, prints, photography, collage, sculpture, and graphite. The exhibit consists of two and three-dimensional work.

Only artists from Indiana, its contiguous states or former residents could apply.

Jasper Community Arts will hold the Juried Show Awards Reception during their opening reception at the Krempp Gallery on Thursday, September 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. This is a great opportunity for the public to meet the artists and share in the festivities of JCA’s annual Juried Show. $2,000 in prize monies will be awarded in the categories of BEST OF SHOW, AWARD OF EXCELLENCE, HIGH HONOR AWARD and five HONORABLE MENTIONS.

This year’s juror, Edward Trover is a visual artist living and working in Terre Haute.  He is currently the curator of Collections & Exhibitions at the Sheldon Swope Art Museum and the Director of the Terre Haute Museum of Modern Art. 

Trover’s interdisciplinary practice includes printmaking, painting, sculpture, writing, video, photography, and multiple other forms of media.

He received his MFA in Visual Studies from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2013, and his BFA in Sculpture and Printmaking from Indiana State University in 2010. His work has been screened and exhibited in the US and abroad including shows at Disjecta in Portland, OR; Printed Matter in New York; the Experimental Film Festival in Portland, OR; and at Videoholica in Varna, Bulgaria.

As a part of the collective Danger Punch, Trover’s first book Things We Should Have Said was published in 2013 by Publication Studio in Portland, OR. He has also had work published in Untitled Magazine, Submit, The Hand Magazine, and #RealLife on consequenceofsound.net.

The Krempp Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30a.m. to 5 p.m., until 7 p.m. on Thursdays, and on Sundays from noon to 3 p.m.  It is also open by appointment by calling (812) 482-3070. School groups, clubs and students are welcome. 

The Krempp Gallery is managed by Jasper Community Arts, a department of the City of Jasper. JCA is supported by Friends of the Arts, Inc., Indiana Arts Commission, Community Foundation Alliance and the National Endowment for the Arts.
